The low down on my journey: I went from never thinking twice about what I was eating, chicken nuggs on the daily, to all of sudden obsessing over every morsel of food that I consumed. I still don’t even know how the switch flipped, but it took over my life. I had anxiety attacks over going out to eat. I’d hit the gym twice a day (hours of cardio of course and hated every second) after a weekend of binging. I wasn’t happy with what I saw in the mirror.
Once I began lifting, my entire life changed. When it became how strong can I get instead of how small can I get, it got FUN. Not only was it then that my body actually started to change…but I fell in love with myself. I gained confidence, walked taller, wasn’t so shy, and took risks I never thought I would.
It changed my life. And that’s when I decided I wanted to help change others!
It All Boils Down to This...
The reason you haven't achieved your fitness goals yet:
Most fitness journeys only seem to last a few weeks.
Which makes sense to me because, in those first few weeks, people have an abundance of something that makes it easy.
Motivation.
Tell me if you’ve ever been through this before.
You get really motivated about exercise or a diet and decide you are going to go all in on it.
It goes well for the first couple of weeks and you tell yourself “This is how I roll now, I’m never falling off, I’m gonna make it.”
Thennn a few weeks later you slowly start to fade away and somehow find yourself back to square one. And you repeat this frequently.
Because after a few weeks, when the motivation is gone, you don’t really know exactly what your are doiing nd why you are doing it
All you know is get your butt to the gym, and keep eating those grilled chicken salads.
Without understanding the principled behind the actions you are taking and what they are doing to your body, you lose sight of why you are doing them in the first place.
One cheat meal, turns into skipping a workout, turns to a weekend of binge eating, and by mid-next week you’ve completely fallen off.
Heres the thing, motivation is extremely temporary.
It is going to quickly fade away for everyone.
Those who stay consistent are the ones who build discipline over time.
How do you build discipline?
Well, it’s actually much more simple it sounds.
Most people think discipline is about forcing yourself to do things you don’t want to do because you know it is probably the right thing to do.
And while that may be part of it sometimes…
That’s not really what it is.
And it’s not what keeps people consistent with their fitness for months and years.
The key that no one on social media will tell you, is that discipline is about learning how to WANT to make the best choice or do the “hard thing”
Once you’ve learned how to enjoy making healthy decisions, they will become easy, and you will be making them without even thinking about it.
And that right there is the key to consistency. No motivation needed.
Through my years of being in the fitness industry and working with clients. I’ve found that the only way to make this happen is through knowledge.
